Founded in 2000, Groupe Investissement Responsable inc. (GIR) is the Canadian leader in terms of extra-financial strategic advisory services crucial in today’s investment world. GIR guides its clients through environmental, social and corporate governance issues that affect public companies. It also offers a wide array of other services, including research, proxy voting, business consulting, strategic positioning, financial product development and communications.
GIR is a signatory to the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment. As such, GIR has made a public commitment, as a service provider to investors, to adopt these principles and apply them to the fullest extent possible in accordance with its role on behalf of its clients.
The objective of this Code of Professional Ethics (hereafter referred to as “the Code”) is to set forth the professional and ethical standards with which all GIR officers and employees must comply. These standards, founded as they are on professional integrity and excellence, are critical to building and maintaining the trust of clients of GIR and promoting the integrity of GIR officers and employees.
GIR officers and employees must take all reasonable measures to ensure that the provisions of the Code are respected. Furthermore, it is the professional responsibility of employees to be knowledgeable about, and to keep current with any revisions to, the rules and annotations, as well as to refer to them in case of uncertainty. Adherence to the Code is among the terms and conditions of employment for all officers and employees.
