What to watch and listen for a better understanding of Indigenous Peoples

To provide food for thought, to meet Indigenous Peoples and to better understand them, we suggest a few articles, sites and productions to explore.

On the occasion of the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Holiday , CBC/Radio-Canada offered a variety of programs, interviews and reports to highlight the cultures and talents of Indigenous Peoples:

To see or hear direct or indirect testimonies of people affected by the legacy of residential schools, we suggest among others:

The "Espaces autochtones" section of Radio-Canada is also worth consulting, both for its news coverage and its columns and analyses:

Melissa Mollen Dupuis' video column, Parole autochtone, in Radio-Canada's "Espaces autochtones" section, offers a personal point of view on Aboriginal issues that is interesting, relevant and nuanced, with sometimes complex concepts well-publicized. Among her recent columns you should not miss:

For music lovers, the show mâmawi music by Moe Clark, on Radio-Canada's "Espaces autochtones", opens a window on the Indigenous music scene:

A must-see is Jaime Black's REDress project, which aims to be a "aesthetic response to the more than the 1000 missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada":
