01

Our commitment

GIR Canada believes that access to information on responsible investment and proxy voting should not be limited by digital barriers. We are committed to making www.gir-canada.com accessible to as many people as possible, particularly those living with visual, auditory, motor or cognitive disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing process of improvement. We regularly review our website to identify and address barriers, and train our team on inclusive design best practices.

Partial compliance statement: as of today, www.gir-canada.com aims for compliance with Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. Some sections of the site may not yet be fully compliant — see section 4 for known issues and our remediation commitments.

02

Standards we target

We aim for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. These guidelines are based on four core principles:

  • Perceivable: content and interfaces must be presented in ways that can be perceived by all users, including those using assistive technologies.
  • Operable: interface components and navigation must be operable, including by keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
  • Understandable: the content and operation of the interface must be understandable.
  • Robust: content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by current and future assistive technologies.
03

Accessibility features

The following features have been integrated into the design of the site:

High contrast
WCAG AA-compliant contrast ratios across all text and interactive elements.
Keyboard navigation
All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible with visible focus indicators.
Alternative text
All informative images include a text description via the alt attribute.
Bilingual site
Available in French and English, with the lang attribute correctly set on each page.
Reduced motion
Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion system preference when enabled.
Semantic HTML
Semantic tags (nav, main, header, footer, aria-label) used throughout to aid assisted navigation.
04

Known issues

Despite our efforts, some elements of the site may have accessibility limitations. Below are the identified issues and our remediation commitments:

Element Description Status
PDF documents Some reports and publications in PDF format may not be fully accessible to screen readers (missing structural tags). Planned 2026
Video player Embedded videos do not yet have captions or text transcripts. In progress
HubSpot forms Some forms provided by HubSpot may have gaps in field labelling or accessible error messages. Planned 2026

If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, we invite you to report it to us — see section 6.
